Family and General Dentistry in Clifton
What a routine visit includes
We recommend a checkup and cleaning twice a year for most patients. At a routine visit we review your health history, carry out a thorough dental exam and cleaning, take digital X-rays when they are due, check your gums and screen for oral cancer. The hygienist removes plaque and tartar and polishes your teeth, and we talk you through anything we find.
Problems found early are usually simpler to treat. A small cavity can be repaired with a tooth-colored dental filling before it grows into something that needs a crown or a root canal, and we explain your options before any treatment begins.
Our preventive care program
Prevention is at the center of our care. Patient education is part of every checkup: we review how you brush and floss at home, point out areas that need extra attention and give you the guidance you need to keep plaque from building up between visits.
For children, we help build habits that last a lifetime. Our pediatric dentistry visits include age-appropriate instruction, periodic fluoride treatments and dental sealants for added protection against tooth decay. For adults and seniors, regular visits let us watch for gum disease, worn or cracked teeth and changes in older fillings and crowns, so small concerns are handled before they become larger ones.
A little prevention goes a long way
It is important not to wait until you are in pain to see the dentist. Regular checkups keep the whole family’s smiles healthy and help you avoid larger, more involved treatment later. If something goes wrong between visits, such as a toothache, a chipped tooth or a lost filling, call us about emergency treatment and we will see you as soon as we can.
